What brought you to the Lake Norman area?

“Born and raised in Germany, I never imagined that becoming an au pair in the United States would completely change the direction of my life. I fell in love with America, extended my stay, attended college in Wisconsin, and eventually settled in North Carolina, where I met my husband, who is also German. Today we’re raising our daughters, Allina, 4, and Annabelle, 2, bilingually, and that’s one of my greatest joys.”

How did your personal journey lead you to create Money Mindset, LLC?

“My career took me from paralegal, to sales, to executive assistant, and then to human resources before I finally followed the dream that had been on my heart for nearly a decade … launching Money Mindset to help women create financial confidence. My business exists because I’ve been where so many women are. After a difficult season of life, I found myself newly single, living in North Carolina with more than $20,000 in debt, and no savings. Bankruptcy was suggested, but after working at a bankruptcy law firm, I understood the emotional toll it could take. Instead, I made a promise that money would never have that much control over my life again. I created spreadsheets, prioritized every debt, and slowly paid them off one by one. That lonely journey became my inspiration because I wanted other women to know they don’t have to figure it out alone.”

You often say that money problems aren’t about math, but behavior, could you elaborate?

“It’s probably the biggest lesson that I’ve learned. We often know what we should do, but changing lifelong habits and deeply rooted beliefs about money is the hard part. That’s why I focus just as much on mindset as I do budgeting. My favorite advice is simple: plan your money before the month begins, schedule regular money dates with your spouse, build an emergency fund, and don’t abandon your plan when life throws you a curveball. Wealth isn’t built through flashy purchases or trendy investments. It’s built through small, consistent decisions repeated over time.”

As both a business owner and a mom, how do you keep a proper work-home balance?

Balance isn’t something I believe you achieve once and keep forever. There are simply different seasons of life. Right now my business is still young, so many evenings and weekends are spent building behind the scenes. But when I’m with my girls, they have my complete attention. I believe 20 minutes of uninterrupted time is far more valuable than two distracted hours spent looking at a phone or laptop. I also make time to journal, read something inspirational, take walks, and explore new places with my family. Those moments keep me grounded and remind me why I work so hard.
