Although she now calls North Carolina home, Faith Amigo-Choplin (owner and business development manager of Choplin’s Restaurant and The Guesthouse) has had quite the journey … literally!
Beginning in the Philippines, she was just 6 years old when what she thought was a four-month family vacation across the United States became a life-changing adventure. After visiting every state, her father revealed the real purpose of the trip: the family was moving to America. Seeking stability amid political unrest in their home country, her parents settled in Charlotte, where they built a successful import business supplying furnishings and home décor to retailers across the country.
Because her parents traveled extensively for work, Faith often traveled alongside them, giving her a truly global upbringing. “I grew up everywhere,” she says with a smile. “Those experiences exposed me to diverse cultures, cuisines, and people … lessons that continue to influence me today.”
After earning a business degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Faith explored a variety of career paths. Her résumé includes roles as a radio DJ and VJ in Hong Kong, a food and beverage manager at a luxury hotel, and a brand ambassador for international companies throughout Asia. She later moved to New York City where she helped build two global companies.
Yet through every chapter, one passion remained constant: creating memorable experiences for people. That passion led her to join her husband, chef and restaurateur Wes Choplin, in growing Choplin’s Restaurant. Together, they recently launched The Guesthouse in Huntersville, bringing a fresh concept inspired by Faith’s worldwide travels and love of hospitality.
“My goal is to create experiences that make people excited about seeing the world,” she shares. “Whether it’s through the atmosphere, the food, or the feeling they leave with, I want people to feel inspired and alive.”
Faith credits much of her inspiration to her mother, whom she describes as the ultimate example of balancing family and career. An interior designer and businesswoman, her mother created a home filled with warmth, gatherings, and lasting memories while maintaining a thriving professional life.
Today, Faith strives to carry those same values into both her family and business. She is the proud mother of a 28-year-old son and is also blessed with three bonus children through her marriage to Wes.
Her life has been shaped by defining moments, including winning the Miss Philippines competition despite being painfully shy and later navigating the profound loss of her parents. Through both experiences, she gained confidence, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for the values that continue to guide her.
“Life has taken me across continents, through incredible opportunities and difficult losses, but through it all, my faith and values have remained my compass. Every day, I simply strive to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday, and if I can help someone feel seen, valued, or inspired along the way, then I have done my job.”
