In Mooresville, honoring those who served goes far beyond parades and patriotic holidays, it’s a core part of how the Town operates every day. With approximately 80 veterans employed across its departments, the Town of Mooresville proudly recognizes the unique strengths, values, and experiences that veterans bring to the workforce. From public safety and public works to administration and leadership roles, veterans continue to serve their community with the same dedication they brought to their military service.
A Commitment to Hiring Veterans
The Town of Mooresville actively prioritizes the recruitment and retention of veterans, understanding that their service backgrounds align naturally with the Town’s mission to serve the public. Hiring managers across departments look for the leadership, discipline, and teamwork veterans develop in the military. These are skills that translate seamlessly into local government work.
Veterans are known for their ability to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to change, and maintain a strong sense of accountability. These qualities make them invaluable members of teams that respond to emergencies, maintain vital infrastructure, and provide essential community services. By seeking out veteran candidates, the Town not only gains skilled employees but also strengthens its culture of service and integrity.
A Veteran-Focused Community
Mooresville takes pride in being a Veteran-Focused Community, honoring military service members not just as employees but as neighbors, mentors, and leaders who continue to shape the town’s identity. Each year, the Town organizes a week-long celebration dedicated to honoring veterans. This annual tradition includes community events, ceremonies, and opportunities for connection.
In collaboration with Richard’s Coffee Shop, a beloved Mooresville gathering place and nonprofit known for its dedication to veterans, and other local organizations, the Town works to celebrate and support those who have served. These partnerships strengthen the Town’s mission to recognize veterans for their continued contributions to the community, both in and out of uniform.
This November, the Mooresville Veterans Week events will kick off on November 3rd with a Flag Processional & Ceremony on Main Street. Breakfast and lunch events honoring veterans will take place throughout the week, ending with the annual Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Mooresville, where the community attends to celebrate and support local veterans. A Shared Sense of Purpose
Mooresville’s investment in its veterans isn’t just about filling positions, it’s about honoring service, building stronger teams, and ensuring that the Town’s legacy of dedication endures for generations to come. In Mooresville, service never stops, it simply takes on a new uniform.
