Most of us have had the experience of being in the right place at the right time — when fortune and favor provide what we need just when we need it against all odds. This truthful cliché perfectly describes my journey the past decade. I worked in broadcast for ten years before I was hired to co-host “Good Morning LKN.” While there, I continued to look for opportunities to share women’s stories. Eventually, this passion led me to my current position as Editor-in-Chief of Lake Norman Woman Magazine. I’m so grateful for all these opportunities, where timing truly seemed to be on my side.

The idea of being in the right place at the right time is often dismissed as luck, but I believe it’s more than that. Sometimes, it’s a combination of preparation, opportunity, and divine orchestration. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a right season for everything: a season for growing and a season for resting, a season for building and a season for uprooting, a season for hoping, a season for searching, and a season for trusting. Being at the right place at the right time isn’t just about chance; it’s about recognizing the season you’re in and being ready to act when the moment arrives.

Years ago, my mom needed to make a coleslaw for a church potluck. There was just one problem: she had neither a head of cabbage nor the money to purchase one. In those days, my dad was a minister of music, and my mom was a stay-at-home mom. They were stretching every dollar to cover the cost of raising four young daughters, and there wasn’t much extra money in the budget. So my mom did what she often did when faced with an impossible situation: she prayed.

“God, all I need is one cabbage.”

Not much later, the church custodian called our house. A produce truck was driving by the church and dropped five heads of cabbage in the parking lot. Could my mom use them?

Once again God showed that He could provide for every need in every season. My mom simply had to trust that in her season of need, He would prove faithful. This story reminds us that being in the right place at the right time is not just a cliché; it’s a testament to the way faith, timing, and readiness can converge to bring about exactly what we need, just when we need it.
