Shaping the Future of Mooresville
At the heart of any thriving town is a leader who knows that community isn’t just about sidewalks and services; it’s about people, purpose, and possibility. For Mooresville, leadership is in the capable hands of Town Manager Tracey Jerome, a globally experienced, community-focused professional whose diverse background and visionary mindset are helping to guide the town into its next chapter.
Tracey’s appointment was more than just a staffing decision. It was a thoughtful move with intent and purpose to elevate the town’s organizational culture and policy execution to the next level. With a career that spans more than two decades and includes public and private leadership roles across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, Tracey brings a rare global perspective to local governance.
Her journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the College of William & Mary, followed by a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master’s in Art History from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. That educational path, coupled with hands-on experience—from working in a London art gallery to holding various executive municipal roles—shaped her commitment to community development and cultural enrichment.
“We want Mooresville to be a place where creativity and connectivity are part of everyday life,” Tracey shares. “The role of Town Manager is a tremendous responsibility, and one I take very seriously. It’s about strategic planning, yes, but it’s also profoundly personal. We’re talking about people’s lives, their neighborhoods, their safety, their kids’ futures.”
Passionate about building communities where history, the arts, and innovation go hand in hand, Tracey has carved out a career that perfectly reflects her values. Her expertise aligns seamlessly with her vision for Mooresville and brings her strategic plan into the culture of the organization.
On any given day, Tracey’s responsibilities are vast—managing budgets, steering infrastructure investments, and ensuring Mooresville’s services are efficient and forward-thinking. But at the core of all these duties is her steadfast belief in the value of people.
“It all begins with our people,” she smiles. “Hiring, training, evaluating, and retaining individuals who share our values and vision is the foundation of everything we do. From the very first hire to our most seasoned team member, we ask: What’s your ‘Why’? What brings you here? What fuels your commitment? Whether you’re working in sanitation, water services, the fire department, or town administration—every role matters. Every action creates a ripple effect. That’s a powerful message we send to our workforce: you are essential. When we invest in our people, we’re investing in the future of our town.”
With a sharp focus on long-term sustainability and a steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional service, Tracey is doing more than managing Mooresville … she’s making sure it thrives, evolves, and stays true to its values and residents. Her leadership blends vision with action, inspiring a culture of innovation, accountability, and purpose at every level.
