When Luke Miller was diagnosed with Stage III T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma at just 3 years old, his family’s world was turned upside down. What followed was 132 rounds of chemotherapy, countless hospital stays, and the kind of fight no child should ever have to face.
But Luke fought … and won. When he rang the bell at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, signaling the end of treatment, the Miller family made a promise: they would turn their pain into purpose.
That promise became Luke and the Lost Bell, a children’s book written to remind every child battling cancer that they are brave, they are loved, and they are never alone. Through their nonprofit, Next Chapter Station, the Miller family has donated over 500 copies of the book to hospitals, oncology clinics, and pediatric cancer organizations across the United States and Canada, ensuring no child or family ever has to pay for a copy.
Now, they’re aiming higher. The family has set a goal of donating 1,000 books by September, putting hope into the hands of even more children and families navigating their own cancer journeys.
