Lake Norman Woman Magazine is proud to announce that Foster Love Adopt Repeat (FLAR) has been selected as the nonprofit partner for the 2nd Annual Lake Norman Woman of the Year Gala, taking place Friday, September 25, at The Brawley Estate in Mooresville.

The Lake Norman Woman of the Year Gala is an evening dedicated to celebrating the women who lead, serve, and inspire throughout our community while supporting organizations making a meaningful local impact.

Founded in 2018 by Jeremy and Alyse Breger, FLAR is dedicated to ensuring that no child walks through foster care alone and that no family feels unsupported. The organization works to raise awareness, provide resources, and meet the needs of children in foster care and the families who care for them.

“Our heart has always been to come alongside children and families in foster care in practical, meaningful ways,” said co-founder Alyse Breger. “Sometimes that looks like meeting an immediate need, and sometimes it’s simply reminding a child or caregiver that they are not alone.”

Through programs such as First Night Bags and First Night Pizza, FLAR helps children entering foster care feel welcomed and supported from the very beginning. Youth-focused initiatives—including Thrive, Driven, and Rise—create opportunities for growth, mentorship, and connection. For caregivers, programs like Foster Your Soul, support groups, and scholarships offer encouragement and resources to help them continue their important work.

“We believe every child deserves stability, support, and people who believe in them,” Alyse said. “Our community plays a huge role in making that possible.”

The 2026 Gala also marks a special milestone as Lake Norman Woman Magazine celebrates 20 years of highlighting the remarkable women of our community. Guests can once again expect an unforgettable evening at The Brawley Estate filled with connection, celebration, and purpose as extraordinary women are honored and funds are raised to support Foster Love Adopt Repeat.

Key dates for the 2026 event include sponsorship opportunities opening in April, Woman of the Year nominations opening in May, and the gala taking place in September. Stay tuned to LakeNormanWoman.com and our social media platforms for the latest updates and announcements.

Those who wish to support the organization can donate to FLAR, where 100 percent of donations go directly toward the organization’s mission. As Alyse puts it, “Not everyone can foster or adopt, but everyone can do something.”
