Microneedling—a collagen induction therapy treatment that corrects skin damage—is a great way to improve your complexion! During a 30-minute treatment, the microneedling system creates tiny pin holes, without damaging the skin, to stimulate collagen production. There is little downtime and the results, which are long term, include the minimization of pore size; reduction of fine lines and wrinkles; tightening, lifting, and rejuvenation of the skin; and the improvement in the appearance of acne scarring.

How does microneedling work exactly? When the epidermis and dermis are pierced, the skin will naturally respond by going into a phase called “wound healing.” The tiny injuries to the skin created by microneedling trigger the healing process that aids in the promotion of the production of collagen, which in turn helps minimize lines, tones, and diminishes pigmentation. A series of 4-6 treatments is recommended to achieve an optimal result. While some laser treatments create the same response, many types of skin don’t respond well to the heat due to hyperpigmentation. Microneedling can be tolerated by a wide range of skin tones without hyperpigmentation risks, and it also makes it easier for products to be absorbed deeply into the skin to get maximum results.

In celebration of Lake Norman moms this May, Physician’s Plan Weight Loss + Wellness in Huntersville is offering a microneedling special: Buy 3 treatments and get one free! Gift certificates are also available for microneedling and all spa services.
